Sea Kayaking Courses & Expeditions

FAQs

Do I have to be an experienced kayaker to come out on one of your trips?

Not at all, we take out complete beginners from ages 5 -85+

What should I wear for a trip?

If it’s a hot day all you’ll need is shorts and t-shirt. However, there is plenty of dry storage in the kayaks so please also bring…
Sunscreen & sun hat
Warm outdoor clothing (not jeans as they are uncomfortable if they get wet). We will provide you with a waterproof kayak jacket
A pair of shoes or sandals that you don’t mind getting wet
Pack lunch and drink for day trips; A snack and drink for half day trips
We usually have a break on a beach so bring swimming gear if you’d like to go for a splash!
For Spring and late Autumn and Winter trips please make sure to bring extra layers with you.

Can I bring my dog?

Unfortunately we can’t accommodate dogs in the kayaks however there are a few day/ boarding kennels and dog walkers in the area that you could try.

Dartmouth/ Surrounding areas:
4- Paws – Dog Walkers
Pet Care South Hams – Dog Walkers
Ash Cross Kennels – Boarding Kennels
The Dog Lodge – Boarding Kennels and Doggy Day Care

Torbay:

What course is right for me?

Level 1 – ideally suited to complete beginners, people who have never been in a kayak, but who want a fun experience and to learn the basic skills necessary to enjoy being on the water.

Level 2 – this is by far our most popular course. It is designed as a springboard for people who are keen to learn the skills that will help them start to plan their own kayak trips. Our World-Class Sea Kayak Destination makes each day of the course a unique and memorable experience

Level 3 – This course is aimed at keen Sea Paddlers who understand the fundamentals, and want to take their skills to the next level. Ideally they should be paddling regularly with a club and have some self rescue technique’s or a good roll.

2 Day – Vs – 5 Day Courses, which is best for me?

Our standard 2-day courses is packed full of information and top coaching that will help you learn new skills and gain knowledge. You will get to enjoy the classic Sea Kayaking on offer around Dartmouth. On our 5-day courses, you will do a deep dive into the world of Sea Kayaking.
